The Kingdom of Eswatini is an exciting blend of lush landscapes, free-roaming Big 5, and a deep-rooted cultural history. This small but vibrant landlocked country sits snugly within South Africa while sharing a border with neighbouring Mozambique. It offers blissfully uncrowded safari experiences and plenty of adventure activities ranging from horse riding to white water rafting, mountain biking and breathtaking hiking. Estwatini boasts an impressive black rhino population and the best place to see these mighty creatures is Mkhaya Game Reserve, which is patrolled very effectively by the reserve’s community members. With a total of 17 protected areas, various safari destinations are spread across a range of landscapes – from low-level grasslands to mountainous highlands. The country has a strong focus on both community tourism and volunteering programs that assist in uplifting local people.

Best time to go to Eswatini
Eswatini has something to offer travellers year-round. The best months to see wildlife is during the dry season, when it’s winter, from about May to September. During this time, temperatures can get chilly in the morning (reaching single digits), so pack accordingly. October to April sees warmer temperatures, rain, showers and a transformed landscape bustling with impressive birdlife. Summer can also bring an increased risk of malaria, so chat with your doctor before you travel.
